Industrial PLC Programmer

We are currently seeking an Industrial PLC programmer to become part of a dynamic team. The retained candidate will design, write, coordinate, configure, program, integrates and test computer code for PLC, HMI & SCADA system. The incumbent works on progressively complex projects in a real production environment by many of our customers. The Industrial Programmer designs and programs the solutions that our customers depend on, in addition to be the link between the machines and the users.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

The Industrial PLC programmer reports to the Department Manager and has the following responsibilities:

  • Control philosophy development, conceptual design, automation planning
  • Maintain existing computer programs by making modifications as required
  • Identify and communicate technical problems, processes and solutions
  • Determine and communicate instrument equipment’s’ sizing, specifications selections installations and connections
  • Develop control system designs and specifications
  • Prepare industrial reports, manuals and other documentations on the status, operation and maintenance of computer systems
  • Collect and document user’s requirements
  • Develop logical and physical specifications
  • Participate in conceptions and analysis
  • Perform changes in on-going applications development and maintenance
  • Perform testing and on-site commissioning
  • Train client’s personnel on systems and operations
  • Develop designs that are applicable and useable to the users, while respecting the user’s department or company business process
  • Perform other related tasks as required by the immediate supervisor and for the success of the company

  REQUIREMENTS

  • A bachelor’s degree or College degree in computer science or in another discipline with a significant programming component and in electrical engineering
  • Preferably 5 years’ experience minimum as an Industrial programmer, especially in ladder programming
  • In-depth knowledge of configuring and programming PLC, HMI, SCADA and instruments
  • In-depth knowledge with PLC programming software such as: RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, RSLinx, CX programmer
  • In-depth knowledge with HMI/SCADA programming software such as: FactoryTalk View Studio, RSView 32, Indusoft Web studio
  • Experience in programming Microsoft products such as: Visual Basic, Access, MS SQL and/or in technical control is an asset
  • Good knowledge or MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and MS Access
  • Ability to understand the client’s business process
  • Ability to work autonomously and understand the critical tests required to ensure that the impacts of the software are tested
  • Experience with packaging equipment such as palletizer, wrapper, pallet conveying systems, work experience within the sawmill industry or municipal industry would be considered an asset
  • Proven analytical and planning skills
  • Capable of taking initiatives
  • Experience with the major brands of PLC, HMI & SCADA systems
  • Bilingual: English and French
